Meet your instructor: Dave Drzonek and Charlie Hart

Mr. Hart is a veteran teacher of 44 years, having taught in 13 different high schools in 6 different countries. He has taught eight different AP* classes and College Board has hired him to read student essays and present workshops for teachers in each of the three AP history disciplines. He has participated in the reading of AP World History exams since the course began and has been a table leader since 2004. He has been married to his wife, Barbara, since 1968 and has two children. He currently resides in Lockport, Il.

Dave Drzonek is currently in his 14th year of teaching at Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, Illinois. He graduated from Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana with a major in History and later received his Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. He is a Golden Apple nominee and a finalist for the Gilder Lehrman Illinois History Teacher of the Year. He has been a presenter at the National Council for the Social Studies four different times and has been teaching AP World History for nine years. He has a passion for teaching and traveling, and has led numerous student trips to four different continents to see history come alive. He has been married to his wonderful wife, Laura, since 2004 and has two amazing children. He currently resides in Homer Glen, Illinois.
